Your First Session

It is common to feel a bit anxious or nervous at your first visit, so outlining what to expect might help reduce any worry or concerns you have. When we meet I will take some personal details and ask for an emergency contact number or your GP’s name and address. Then you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire. This helps to establish how you have been feeling and functioning in the week prior to your visit.

Following this, we will explore what brought you to therapy and what you would like to achieve. The predominant psychotherapeutic approach used is person-centred, meaning you are in control of the process, with disclosures being made when you feel safe enough to do so. At the end of this session, we will discuss how to move forward in therapy, with your wants and needs always at the forefront of treatment planning.
