Fiona Tierney

Counsellor and Psychotherapist

I am a qualified psychotherapist with a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Institute for Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (IICP). I am a member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and I adhere to their code of ethics and supervision guidelines.

I follow a humanistic approach as set out by Carl Rogers which emphasises looking at the whole person and the uniqueness of each individual. “The central hypothesis of this approach can be briefly stated. Individuals have within themselves vast resources for self-understanding and for altering their self-concepts, basic attitudes and self-directed behaviour; these resources can be tapped if a definable climate of facilitative psychological attitudes can be provided.” – Carl Rogers

Additionally, I have attended postgraduate training courses in Autism Therapy. Much of my work is in supporting family members when a child or adult first receives an autism diagnosis. Given my lived experience of this ‘difference’, I am passionate about the wellbeing of this community of people and their families, with a wish to support them to live their best life.
